  Did the second-class status of JW women ever bother you? Does it now?

  if the jw organization were considered a normal business operating without the protections of being a religion, it obviously would have to make some big changes in order to avoid being sued out of existence for sex discrimination.

  i wasn't raised to think that women should be relegated to second class status or that they should have less opportunities than men or be relegated to a limited set of life roles.

  however, when i became a jw, i freely accepted all the sexist nonsense that came with the territory without ever being bothered by it.

  YES!!

  I guess when I was in, I just took it for granted but now it seems to be madness that JW women did by far the majority of the preaching work, yet could not receive privaleges!!

  Calling all Elders..

  when you were an elder what sucked most....conducting the schoolconducting the book studyconducting the wt study (having to listen to sister know it all answer over and over...)giving public talks (trying to squeeze sense out of a one page summary of total crap)being an attendant at assembliesbeing food/cleaning/work overseer at assemblies & quickbuildsauditing the finances/paying in contributions at the banktaking the lead in unassigned territory serviceshepherding calls !!!!!

  !jc'sget togethers and having to pray !praying at the khserving the emblemsgiving counsel at the school/weaklings/youth(e.g young sisters wearing mini skirts & makeup)being always positive about the "new light" and the gb.training young msworking with the circuit overseer when he visited (on saturday afternoons)giving a "special needs talk"never being able to fart, swear or loose your tempercompelled to having missionary sex, not enjoy it and never discuss it..even with your wife, just incase it may be immoralnever seeing any good movieshaving one beer a fortnight .

  I was an elder for 9 years, i didnt mind so much the talks etc.

  What I hated was the cover up when other elders did wrong!!

  That is why I resigned as an elder!!

  Introduction

  i am new to this discussion forum and i wanted to introduce myself.

  my story is rather ordinary when compared to other members of this board.. first of, i am still a baptized (irregular) jw.

  as many jws, i started having doubts when viewing the dateline show regarding child molestation withing the jws.

  Hi indoubt,

  I sympathise with your situation, in many ways it sounds similar to mine. My advise would be that you take control, you say that you have serious doubts about the org anyway, and that you may face a jc because of what happened several years ago!! Ask yourself one question, Who are these people to sit in judgment of you?

  If you decide to go through with the committee out of respect for your wife then I solute that. The last thing you want to do is to risk splitting up your family. Do NOT let these people control you though, because given half the chance they will do. I know they certainly tried that with me, and I was one of them!!

  I have opnly been out of the org myself for 9 mounths. If you don't mind Im going to im you my own introduction to this site I think it will demonstrate the hypochrasy and mind control that exists within the congregation, especially within the elder team!

  Wow what a great post, kind of reminds me of George Orwell's 1984, Only more pertinant! It seems to portray a likely account of life after armageddon.

  When I was a JW I never considerd the immediate consequences of establishing laws and power groups following all that destruction. The picture painted in this diary makes you stop and think. It would not at all suprise me that the elders set themselves up as a spiritual police force. Especially when their links with the borg were broken. Imagine how that absolute power would go to their heads. Each of them setting themselves up as judge and jury, god, I wouldn't stand a chance!!

  Great post, to coin a society phrase "food for thought"!

  Would you have to lie to be reinstated if DF'd for something you didn't do?

  if a jw was disfellowshipped for something they didn't do -- perhaps as the result of false or mistaken accusations -- would they have to lie by "admitting" the "sin" to get reinstated.

  otherwise, if they refused to admit it, wouldn't they be considered unrepentant?

  seems like it could be a sort of catch 22.

  Ofcourse they would not lie!! Lying is wicked and from the devil, also liars will not inherit gods kingingdom! What they would have to do is to tell the 'truth', and ofcourse it would be the 'absolute truth' as only JW's have that.

  However they would need to be careful to eliminate any details of truth that did not fit the purpose trying to be achieved. If this results in changing the facts, do not feel bad about this, your concience may be eased by declaring it part of our spiritual warfare! Please remember that if you do have to alter the facts you are not guilty of lying, because after all liars will not inherit gods kingingdom! There is after all an established presidence for altering factual truth and substituting "spiritual truth" which can be based on inacuracies so long as it fits the point that is being made! (607BCE !!)

  So if any of you find yourself in this difficult position please remember not confuse absolute truth with 'spiritual truth', and what ever you do do not let simple facts get in the way of acheiving your goal!!

  Remember the rule-: Facts can be altered but 'the truth' must go on!!

  God created only us?

  in the thread on 'which tv shows did you not watch because you were a witness?

  ", the comment was made that x-files was off the list (in part) because it involved aliens, and 'god created only us'.. now, i'll grant you that i've not attended meetings for about 20 years now, but i can't recall hearing this line of reasoning before.

  when did this "new light" get a fresh bulb?

  I once had this converstation with my father while he was visiting for a few days. It was just prior to the time I anounced that I would no longer be a witness. We were just having a conversation about the universe and its complexities, when I added .........

  "It surely can not be that we are the only life in the universe. when you consider the number of galaxies and solar systems, each with their planets, there must be life on some of them. After all the scriptures say when reffering to the planets and solar systems, that God did not create it simply for nothing."

  Well after this simple statment, he became very heated about how we are deffinatley the only planet with life on it. He knows this for a fact. The idea of other solar systems holding life, even if that life was created by the same God was just too much. Somehow, and I dont understand how, but this thought threatened his faith. The outcome, he stormed off and whent to bed!!!

  Like so many of you here on this site, I too have faced rejection by friends and family just because my thinking is now different to theirs. I have been accused of apostasizing, yet how can this be? The definition of apsotacy acording to the scriptures is a person who rejects Christ or God, and speak out against them., I have never spoken against Christ or God!

  Yet again the borg have twisted actual scripture to include anyone who speaks out against the organization as an apostate! It is prohibited to say anything negative about the organization, even if what you say is true.

  This is a 'truth' based on lies!!

  they usually refer them to as the org.

  Once an instruction is received, the drones act on it without question, even if it contradicts a previous instruction.
